About the role – Due to business growth, Pyjama Drama Selby urgently requires a Creative Leader. Your role will be to deliver Pyjama Drama sessions within public and/or private settings to toddlers and children up to 7 years of age, under the guidance of your Manager.  You will also be expected to market, promote and sell the Pyjama Drama programme through a number of means including delivering taster sessions, handing out flyers, putting up posters, attending events, speaking to and visiting schools/nurseries/playgroups.

 

This is a varied, rewarding and fun job with excellent incentives for helping to grow the business.

 

Full training, equipment, uniform and ongoing support is provided.

 
Pyjama Drama is a drama and imaginative play programme for children up to 7 years old. The classes cleverly combine drama, music, movement and play. Due to the success of Pyjama Drama in Selby and the surrounding area, we are expanding and looking for committed, enthusiastic and talented leaders to deliver the Pyjama Drama programme and join our existing team.

 

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in the creative development of preschool and young children and experience of working or playing with young children. They should be confident, creative, have the ability to inspire a group of young children and their parents and have a pleasant singing voice.  They will have a background in drama (though not necessarily formal qualifications) and should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Skills and experience  

 

Essential:

  • Excellent Drama skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working or playing with young children
  • Good basic use of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Full driving license and use of car

 

Highly desirable:

 

  • A qualification in or experience of drama (amateur or professional)
  • Teaching and/or training experience
  • Experience of working with children
  • Own a computer

 

Day to day responsibilities

 

  • Preparing for sessions
  • Delivering sessions
  • While at the sessions dealing, in a friendly and helpful manner, with any immediate questions or queries from parents and/or other customers
  • Class administration  including taking registers, collecting fees and keeping accurate records
  • Phoning or visiting schools, nurseries, playgroups to organise work and promote Pyjama Drama
  • Handing out information about Pyjama Drama; putting up posters, giving out flyers
  • Researching potential areas, groups or organisations to visit
  • Any other basic administrative tasks as required by your Manager

 

Hours of work: 15

 

Wage: £8 per hour

 

Incentives: Bonus scheme in place

 

Start date: January 2016
