Join The Deep’s special agents as they take a trip to our native coastline to find out what can be uncovered at the seaside. Help the CSI division discover who is the rockpool polluter in our fun-packed ‘Who Dunnit’ trail, lend a hand in the interactive presentation to find out who stole the shells at 11am, 1pm and 3pm and earn a CSI badge of your own.

See daily dive shows, penguin feeds, get up close in touch pool sessions, ride in the underwater lift and take part in family crafts too.

Colours of the Ocean

Dates: May 4, 2019 – May 6, 2019

Is it better to blend in or stand out? Can looks be deceiving? Discover the wondrous world of colour and vision beneath the waves this May Bank Holiday.

Take part in the interactive presentation at 11am and 3pm, and find out how marine animals use colour to impress, hunt and protect themselves. Join the Guides at craft corner and colour in your own flashy fish to turn into a badge from 11am to 4pm.


Endangered Species Weekend

Dates:May 18, 2019 – May 19, 2019

It’s time to explore the work of the IUCN… the what, we hear you cry? Hear from our very own Captain Redlist on how The Deep is helping to save animals all around the globe.

Become a science detective and help the team decide which animals need the most help in the interactive show at 11am, 1pm and 3pm in Endless Ocean and earn your own Rockin’ Redlister sticker.

Take part in the fun-packed trail around the aquarium, get your face painted in your favourite animal and grab a selfie at the photo station.

Sense-ational Sharks

Dates:May 25, 2019 – June 2, 2019

Dive in and learn more about super shark senses this May half term! It’s sure to be sense-ational!

Join us in the Endless Oceans Gallery at 11am and 3pm for our interactive shark senses work shop and discover the amazing senses that sharks have used to survive for over 450 million years. You can even try your hand at hunting for prey just like a shark too!

Visit Craft Corner from 10am to 4pm to make you own finger puppet, choose from a shark, stingray or sawfish and don’t forget to follow the sense-ational shark trail as you go round the aquarium to be in with the chance of winning a prize.

Find out more about the Shark Trust #Move4Makos campaign and show your support for ending uncontrolled shark fishing by moving 1 mile. Our guides can give you some great ideas on how to do this when you get home.

Little Nippers!

Don’t get crabby, come to little nippers at The Deep! Join us on Tuesday mornings 9:30am-11:00am for our fun-filled discovery and play sessions for children aged 2 and under. Enjoy sing-a-long and story time in the soft play area along with a light snack. Adults pay £14 for 12 months entry, plus £1 per session for your little nipper! This includes all visits to the aquarium too! No need to pre-book simply turn up on the day! Tranquil Tuesdays!

Join us on the first Tuesday of each month for Tranquil Tuesdays (Term time only). From 3pm until closing the lights will be brighter and the audio turned down, creating a tranquil environment for our visitors. This event is perfect for those who prefer to visit during a quieter and more peaceful environment. Everyone is welcome to attend. Normal admission rates apply and there is no need to book. We have a range of aids available to hire free of charge for visitors with access needs including ear defenders, Braille guides, large print guides, MP3 audio guides, international language leaflets, rollators, electric mobility scooters and wheelchairs.

Junior Experience Day (Various Dates Available)

Is your child aged between 8-11 with a passion for marine animals? Then join us for a fun-filled experience day where your youngster can help carry out some of The Deep’s daily activities. Join a group a like-minded kids (two groups of up to 8) for a junior experience day where The Deep crew will lead you through a number of activities including touring the Cool Seas plant room and Turtle display preparation area, cleaning the exhibit acrylic, taking part in a touch pool session, trying on a dive kit and watching the dive show, taking part in a slime workshop and handling the cockroaches.
